1. Short title, extent and commencement .
(1)This Act may be called the Delhi Municipal
Corporation Act, 1957. (2)Except as otherwise provided in this Act, it extends only to Delhi. (3)The provisions o f this Act, except this section which shall come into force at once, shall come into
force on such date1 as the 2[3[Central Government ]] may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoints:
Provided that different dates may be appointed for different p rovisions of this Act and any reference in
any such provision to the commencement of this Act shall be construed as a reference to the coming into
force of that provision.
